Physically? VA.... Mentally? I'm not quite sure

I see them playing with their friends,
And I wonder what it is like
To have that look of innocence,
To lead a carefree life,
To watch them giggle and smile and play,
So young and full of life.

I wasted all my childhood years,
And now it tears me like a knife.
Did I ever smile like that,
And had no terrible worries?
Why did I waste all of my childhood years
On becoming an adult in a hurry?

You can't recapture those lost and wasted years.
You can't return and quiet all those fears.
Tell your story to everyone you know.
Share your deep down pain.

You never know who is there with you
That you might help.
Don't let it all be in vain.
Open your eyes and look around.
She might be sitting right next to you

Don't pass up the chance to share,
Before your life is through.
It's not to late to swing on a swing,
Or to giggle with a friend.
Don't let this disease be your beginning,
And your end.

Melz, Thanks for the reply!  I just wanted to tell you I wasnt exactly referring to MY children, I dont have children, but you can bet that I will someday, I was just referring to children in general.  I was sitting in the park one day, watching a bunch of kids playing.  And I wrote this.  But that you so much for the reply, not only to this poem but to the others.  And yes, it is sad.

I enjoyed your thoughts in this Tears of Glass.  It's sometimes difficult to remember back to the carefree, younger days of youth ... responsibility comes soon enough, nicely written!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Hey, this is a very sad poem and its written well but, i need to give you a lil advice there try to not post 4 or 5 poems a day save them stretch them out, you see thats why you dont have a lot of replies is because you have so many.

TearsOfGlass~
Excellent thoughts.

Make each day a memory you'd like to re-visit someday.
Believe me, I'm well past the playground age -
but I still like to stop by and take a ride
on the merry-go-round every now and then.
And then there's kite-flying and climbing trees,
splashing in freshly formed rain puddles and making mud-pies.
I hope I always stay young enough to remember to do them all.

I may grow older - but I refuse to grow up !

I like Marge's advice   Great job of expressing these feelings though!

I know how it feels, i often think that I am forcing myself to grow up too fast.
Great poem.  Keep up the good work.
