well, this time every year, i celbrate 8 days of lighting candles. This is the time of year when I remeber all that has been taken and given to the Jews through out the years. how important a name can be. how family is your guide (lol). and so many other things. This poem was triggered by many people. Although I always wanted to write a poem like this. I met Issac Rabin in 1997, when I visited Isreal. and when i could still speak hebrew. this poem is dedicated to him and to all jews and Palsentians.

A festival of Memories.

The last jug of oil, which the
macabees lit the hanukia with.
That oil lasting 8 days.

"G-d", made a miracle for the
jewish people, he gave them
the Torah,the 5 holy books.
He gave them pain and hapiness.

He gave us our 4 mothers and 3
fathers. Their names forever will
be remembered.

Those peaceful times of desert,peace,
and water are all gone now.

He gave us wars! Wars that killed millions
and stole are names and gave us numbers like
swine! He let a mad man try to take over the world.

And then he gave us Isreal. But he cause pain
amoung so many.

The Palsentinens and the Jews, have not yet settled
in peace, nut continue to kill with hatred
and forget they should have peace and work together.

The man I remeber, who  I met once died in 1997.
when he refused to wear a bullet proof vest.
All he wanted was peace.

And now for every candle I light during those 8 days will signify so much.
Peace, honour, war, those who died, the festival of lights, those who live in anger, and those who want what i want peace.

It's sad that people cannot always work out their differences without fighting. The lighting of the candles symbolizes so much, like you said in the poem. Perhaps this Hannukah, this Christmas, this Kwanzaa, or whatever people may be celebrating, we should say an extra prayer for peace. Thank you for sharing your heritage with us.

All you can do is pray for these people. They are in the holiest of places on this earth and they continue to kill each other. I really feel that they don't even know what they're fighting about anymore. They have been fighting for so long that this hatred is born into them. They need to quit worrying about petty differences and begin to live in peace. All we can do is hope and pray  it is soon.                         Jon

This is a wonderful poem. I can feel your pride for your heritage and your pain for everything your people have been through. War can't last forever, I believe that there will be peace in the Holy Land someday. This is a beautiful tribute to your friend and your people. Have a wonderful Hannukah, and keep the light burning!

Great poem. Very powerful Regi......very!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them!
