My Deepest Secret

I've dreamt of us together
From the first day I saw you,
But I finally came to realize
That some dreams don't come true.

I wish there was a way
For you to feel the same,
But in this game of life
You can't chose who to blame.

I'm sorry that I told you
Everything that I did,
I didn't know any better
I was just a little kid.

The night of the 8th grade dance
I had my friend give you a letter,
Telling you that I loved you
Hoping everything would get better.

As soon as I saw you open it
My eyes began to tear,
I revealed my deepest secret
That I'd kept the entire year.

I didn't know what to do
Or even what to say,
So I cried until my eyes were dry
And tried to make it go away.

But once things are done
You can't take them back,
No matter how hard you fight
Or how strong you attack.

I thought I really loved you
But things change in the end,
And now I'm only asking
For you to be my friend.

So please forget the past
Cause that will never change,
I just wish it never happened
So things wouldn't be so strange.

I think I learned my lesson
Not to share those kinds of things,
Cause you never know what will happen
And what the future brings.

that was a really good poem!
did this really happen for you?? i'm sorry that things didn't work out better! and hope this guy wants to be your friend!

I can relate to this poem really well. I gave a poem to a guy last year, proclaiming my love. He rejected me, but I still don't regret what I did. If I didn't give him that poem, I knew that I would spend the rest of my life asking "what if?". Although I got an answer I didn't like, I got an answer. I can't agree with you when you say that you should keep these things to yourself. I have to agree whole-heartedly with kris' quote. If you keep these things to yourself, you'll never know what could have come from it. Well, I guess I've given more than my 2 cents. I hope that this person decides to form a friendship with you. Thanks for your replies...this did happen to me, two years ago...and I agree with you about telling someone your feelings about them...but I just meant that you have to be very careful in how you do it...because telling someone that you love them is a very strong thing to say...and I don't really regret it that much either, because if I didn't I would still be saying "what if."

Omg hun i remember this!! I felt so bad that night...School dances werent always the fondest memories were they?? Well your a step closer to being friends with him and i think thats great...but everything happens for a reason...if you 2 are meant to be you guys will be in the end. I think we were talking about this the other day...werent we?? N e way i loved this poem babe...love ya

hey i know how you feel! but one of my friends once told me " you never lose by loving you lose by holding back" so no matter what happened later on, you did the right thing! good luck!

Great poem. It's a hard thing to learn...but I guess you learn from mistakes aye? It's better to know than to have never tried...maybe..? Good luck keep it up

Hey this was great......a hard thing to learn but something a lot of us have to eventually!
