I think that the title is right, but I'm not sure, this is one of those rare times when my English fails me. I dedicate this to salooma, and Isabell Galaxia, who might know how I feel ESTRANGED I have gown my whol life here in America state to stateā¦ Never really knowing the land land of my tropical roots, the clear beaches. El coco y el mamey son, rumba salsa, y guaguanco long lines of people and constrictive laws, limiting my political freedom, and a little mayombe Yet state to state, In this frozen land of the North, from the oaks and the maples hip-hop and the techno, McDonalds, and 7-11 constrictive laws limiting my culture. My soul returns to the island of it's past to swim through the reefs and dance the dance as if it had never left. |

Jose, eres cubano o Boricua? I'm confused because you talk about fidel y todo eso , tambien hablas de "la patria o la muerte" and that being the communist slogan. Asi que, im confused. Which isla are you talkin about? Anyway, it must suck immensely to be stripped away from your island and stuck in between your internal hispanic culture and this feeling of being imposed upon americanization and all this racism and stereotypical judgement. Stay strong bud. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

I can't say I know how this feels because I don't, but from my point of view this poem tells your feelings very well. I love how you mix languages here, it just seems, I don't know, unique and cool. I think this is awesome, incredible writing here, it really seems like it's from your heart. "My soul returns to the island of it's past to swim through the reefs and dance the dance as if it had never left." |

thanxs guys for responding. about how I feel, Dopey pretty much hit it on the nose. Erin, Jes~ tahks for responding Dopey~ soy cubano, I might have confused you by telling you that i used to live in San Juan. I was born in Havana, in La Vivora distrct. Our two island are pretty similar culturally. Perhaps you recall a line from that famous poem:"Cuba y Puerto Rico son, de pajaro, las dos halas." the only line that might have given it away here is "costictive laws, limiting my political freedom" Also, yes it does suck to stuck between my culture, and this one. The only time that I really feel American is when i go to cuba Lakewalker~ thank you for liking my style, about that last stanza, I was afraid that It wouln't make sense |

Jose- !Muy bien! I've never really thought of America as "frozen land of the North," but I guess compared to Cuba it is. Thank you for dedicating it(in part) to me, that's very sweet. I can understand where you are coming from on this one. But I have never been to Cuba, so I don't know exactly what it's like there. And like I've said before, I like to remain a mystery so I won't give myself away too much. Great poem my friend, I can't think of too much else to tell you.....so keep writing ok? Hasta luego Bel Beautiful is empty Beautiful is free Beautiful loves no one Beautiful stripped me -"Beautiful" CREED |
