This and the next few poems that I'll be posting are my most recent and the only one written in the last 5 months.....long night. By the Liquor, By the Demons Deliver me from this state to which I've been sedated. By this liquor, by my feelings- I'm so intoxicated. Alone is bad for me and my state of mind. I fill myself with the past I wish I'd left behind. Or is it really what I need to project to me the truth that I am not forgiven for my failures as a youth. But that was then you see; I've grown into a man. I live for those around me and do all that I can. I sacrifice anything to make their smiles last. Now here I am, intoxicated by demons from the past. VERY VERY GOOD POEM..I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL..WHEN I DRINK ITS LIKE THE PAST IS THE ONLY THING THAT I CAN THINK OF AND ITS NOT SOMETHING THAT I LIKE TO REMEMBER..ITS SOMETHING THAT I WISH I CAN JUST ERASE FROM MY MEMORY..AND I ALWAYS END UP IN TEARS FROM THINKING ABOUT IT. dear jeremy, this is a wonderfully expressive piece... i think a lot of people will identify with the ideas you've penned here, and that's what poetry is all about -- the sharing of common human sentiments... sincerely, a sad tomato you're such a beautiful freak... i wish there were more just like you... |

Excellent!! Full of emotion, and I can relate to it. Especially the lines: "Or is it really what I need to project to me the truth that I am not forgiven" So many people are 'trapped' by their past...
