A Sonnet of Life & Death (Upon A Visit To My Dying Grandfather) As men of frail form and noble mind Stand silently before the doors of death And softly knock, there fearing now to find Some emptiness beyond the final breath, It solace gives to meditate on life And death embrace no longer as a curse, But freedom giv'n from bonds of mortal strife So he that once came last might now come first. It nothing prospers men who choose to live A life of preparation for the end But rich in spirit is the man who gives The riches of his heart to other men. Man searches endlessly for love's dim light And then, only in death, discovers life. |

"Man searches endlessly for love's dim light And then, only in death, discovers life." A very powerful way to end an incredible piece of work. It's great have your presence around here again. You have glorious talent, you do. ![]() *Krista Knutson* "Cherish your vision; Cherish your ideals; Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts. If you remain true to them, your world will at last be built." ~James Allen~ "We've made houses for hatred...it's time we made a place where people's souls may be seen and made safe"...~Jewel~ |

Extremely well penned! i am in awe of your talent. writing a sonnet was never really my forte, but you must definitely have a talent for it. and not only the scheme and rhythm, but the words make sense and they are very stirring. i'd pick out my fav lines, but i'd have to recopy the whole thing. great job. We all got somethin' we need to atone for. |

N.F.T.S: this is a fantastic piece of writing. Sonnets are one of my fav pieces of poetry to read and you have done it well. I am sorry to hear about your Grandfather though. Every single line hit me and it is truely great to have you back around here. ~AF~ "Poetry is the language in which man explores his own amazement." Christopher Fry |
