Slamming doors and creaking floorboards, Leak secrets from deep below. Ones of pain and some of suffering, Bring distorted visions of a shoebox life. She sits up straight but slumps so low, Further into a sea of panging guilt. The guilt of knowing a secret so intriguing, But hiding from nosy eyes. However though, she screams so loud, But is bathed in her invisible cloak. Muffled noises drown out her taunts, Of hushed whispers wanting to know more. Inside she is perched on velvety ceiling, Dotted with sliver stars. Tracing words engraved in stone, Words of wisdom bring her no luck. An exchange of thoughts between her and her soul, Bring little comfort to a dragon world. She is trapped just below the silver lining, With dreams and secrets from her despondant heart. There is no aid for her survival, No reasurance for her strung out life. Disapproving glances from all around, Continues to drag her further away. The thread of hope has shread to nothing, Revealing only tassled dispair. Her shoebox life encased with torment, Feeds the oddly woven mind of the keepers hand. "Poetry is the language in which man explores his own amazement." Christopher Fry |
