Daydream Tales (for Simon) Down by the sparkling sea Down through the wispy weeds Underneath the smiling sun We scattered silky-rough sand In our long black-gold hair Rubbed it gently through our hands We thought this was forever We were always together In all kinds of weather Reading poems by Lorca By the black, spinning water Down by the raging waves Down through the secret shades Underneath the frowning moon I imagined tall, dark men With silver-sequinned hems And in your dark Spanish hat You looked almost like that I dreamt dreams of Apollo You made love to Helen Maybe those dreams were hollow But they seemed so real then Note: This is about the time I spent with my (then) best friend Simon (or “Codpiece”) 1986-88. We were 16-18 and practically inseparable. Thanks to allan for making me remember! (Hi allan ) Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo |

Hi Uta! Sometimes it's a definite advantage being a European! I get to read your poem while the rest of the world sleeps! I absolutely loved this. You create a wonderful atmosphere here. I can taste the salty air! A great poem, well done! Allan |

Very nice Uta, loved the imagery. Brings back my own memories. Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |
