(this was written in '99, and is published. I just thought maybe some here would enjoy.) ODE TO JIM MORRISON "I am the Lizard King. I can do any thing." I am the Shamen poet. I am the writter of all contraversial sonnet. I am a rider on the storm of my death that I hide in my minds deepest dorm. I loved them one time for my day. I loved them two times each day sence I have gone away. I am the hypnotist. I am the LSD mysisist. My erotic moods lead me to drown my depressions in melting, brain, ooze. I will never totally lose. I shall forever remain with a legendary name. I am JIM MORRISON ... drifting endlessly in the sun- Forever, "I am the Lizard King" and now, in my eternity, "I can do any thing." "There is an alter ego which dwells in every soul..." a-alibaster "I am as I am, nothing more, nothing less, I am tears of pain, tears of Death. |

"AWAKE SHAKE DREAMS FROM YOUR HAIR MY PRETTY CHILD MY SWEET CHOOSE THE DAY THE DAYS DIVINITY" Ghost song. a great poem, I went through my Doors phase where it was all I listened to I am now in my Patti Smith phase. why must we pray screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith |

Jim was a great poet and this piece does him honour. Very well done, indeed. (Brian, Patti Smith is one of my favorites too, an excellent poet and her recent show in Cincinnati ROCKED!) Sing while you may |

I thank you all for your kind words and am glad that you liked this Ode. Brian, believe it or not, I do not own, only one doors cd...I like the music, but to me Jim was far more a better poet than musician. Not to say that he wasn't good at both, it is just that his music could have never done his poetry justice. I think my favorit poem of his is ... of the cyotte (sp) in the desert. I can not recall the words and they are burried deep in a chest, sorry! Once again, I thank you all. OOoh strange days.. I went through the Jim phase too, and I still adore him, I even have a poster here near the computer!!! This tribute was wonderful hon, it did him an honour!! He was a brilliant man - more brilliant than many know or understand. So sad we lost him, I'd love to see what he'd have been like now... His music and his memory will live always..... P.S. I like to think of him as he was portrayed in the movie 'Death Becomes Her!' Forever as he was at his best..... I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn..... ~Isis~ (Goddess - Sovereign of the Spirit) |
