Black-book, ribbon, pages marked Dig the hole in the ground Light the halls with candles white The man in the coffin hears no sound They say eternal life he's found Hear the mourners in the street And the church bells ring Now the family cries its tears For me the saddened choirs sing Comfort to the throngs they bring 'He lived a hard life' they say Do they really know? Love is for the lucky ones Happy are they who come and go Who know not why they come and go A dance of death is staged for me See me to my bed Do not kiss me, I'm unclean You see, for I am dead The angel of death and I are wed My God, oh are you truly there? No, I know you're not I am now dead and that is all I am now free to rot Pretty maiden touch me not Six feet under, worms abound Conquerer worms that dine On rotting bone and rotting flesh On silk and satin fine On a corpse no longer mine My life force that some men call 'soul' Oh, where has it gone? Up to Heaven or down to Hell Or to rise again with the dawn? ...Oh my God, what have I done?! Shall I never go to Heaven? Am I doomed to burn in Hell? In death I've spoken blasphemy! ...To no god my soul I'll sell ...I have doomed myself to Hell! Christian Fathers help me I am lost! In nomine Patis et Fili et Holy Ghost ...Yes, I hear voices in my head No... I am alone ...I am dead... Author's note: 'Leichenzug' is the German word for 'Funeral Procession' |

I posted this in response to reading Xeonox's poem: 'Realization'. Read it. |

WoW. This is pretty intense! Is he dead or is it just in his head? I love this! BTW: Welsh name. Are you Welsh? (I grew up in Wales, see) Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo |
