A Sign of the Times They tell me to stop wasting my time, To read between the lines, They tell me to open my eyes, stop being so blind It’s just a sign of the times… Dying in the halls, open my eyes? Seems you’re the one who’s blind Death in the schools? It’s just a sign of the times… No more serene childhood dreams All have been ripped at the seams! No more sublime existence But it’s just a sign of the times…. Rip out my heart, claw out my eyes, Burn me to ashes, Death I want instead of this kind of world After all, it’s only a sign of the times. Children cry as their parents die What the hell is going on, Cruelest dream is reality Life’s a lie, it seems to me, blurring the lines After all, its Just a sign of the times |

Deranger...so true. Everything gets explained away as a "sign of the times". But I wonder...where are these signs leading us? Nicely put. Hardrock |

This may turn out to be a duplicate message, webtv snafu again.. Anyway, as I was saying the first time, this poem reminds me of an old song by Buffalo Springfield.. It says a lot about the world and the misery in it. Very well put. Thank you also for your comments on my poem. I guess all we can do is keep trying and dreaming. Take care Cat... |

A really beautiful moving poem. Even though it conveys the dark side of our exsistance, it really gets in behind everything. Great writing. Shell. |

An excellent piece! Our world is a sad place indeed! Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo |

I voted this one. Very very good!!! Isn't it true but so sad that "The sign of the times" has even become something we say to explain away all the horrible things around us? Very thought provoking!! The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose...--Hada Bejar |

~I agree,...very thought provoking. Such a shame,...I too think about these very things and it breaks my heart that it's mostly reality. Nice expression. Be well D. *Peace. |
