NOT FORGOTTEN (Grandpa) I look around the unfamiliar room. Friends, relatives, & strangers, their red puffy faces starring blankly. Tears spotted soft, black fabric. Alone, but surrounded by people. Somewhere music hums faintly. Whispers of unknown voices, trying to comfort me. Flowers once beautiful, now fill me with dread. Sun gleaming warm & bright, yet I'm so dark & cold. A man I though I knew so well, lying still now. Almost peaceful. No more pain, except for my own. Just how I remembered him. Shiny, silver hair, black oval glasses, rosy red cheeks on a creased powdered face. Horizontal lips that once held a smile. His eyes sealed shut now, instead of twinkling like the stars. For me the end, but for him a new beginning. ~December 1st 1918 - March 23rd 1997~ <3 |

beautiful poem...your descriptions are so true- I can remember feeling that same way in my own experiences like that. "We have all these galaxies inside of us. And if we don't enter those in art, then I don't understand the point in doing anything."-Sam Shepard |
