I just loved this! I can see the glowing, and the fading, very well described. Nicely done. |

You have such a talent with words! This poem is short and to the point, yet strikingly beautiful! Wow! ![]() |

I loved this poem! I like how it draws the light, then fades away, like many things... |

Ah this is really lovely Uta. It stimulates so many beautiful memories for me of a certain cocooning place full of gold, warm shadows and peace... Thanks for bringing that back to me... ![]() |

concise and stunning. A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry |

~That read kind of slooow and soft, and so nicely. Left lingering feelings inside of me. Thanks for sharing. *Peace. |

very eye-catching title...may i ask what does "Morpheus" mean?cant seem to find it around in my dictionary... very nice ending...it leaves this reader in darkness, wondering about this poem and how is the speaker(if any) is going to survive without light?... ![]() ![]() |

Thank you everyone, and watch out for Morpheus II (not a continuation, just another poem on the same topic!) Allan, you replied to one of my poems! ![]() ![]() Lotharingia "For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. Otherwise, what the hell are they here for? Oh dear, sorry about this! ![]() Kaile, when I posted my last reply, your message was not visible yet. So, to your question: Morpheus is the Greek god of sleep and dreams (hence morphine, I suppose). The poem is meant to be about what someone might perceive when they are very sleepy, and Morpheus casts his spell. In Morpheus II I attempt to describe Morpheus himself (though I consider him to be invisible, so it's a bit tricky), and how he lulls us into his realm of dreams. BTW, I don't really believe in Greek Gods, I simply like the concept of personification, just in case anyone was worried! Although I did have rather a penchant for Hermes and Apollo as a teenager ![]() Lotharingia "For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. you don't believe in greek gods well i'm one so they are real my name is DOXS and i'm the god of my self. so it tis true we are all gods to ourselves. well sorry about my little story but this kind of goes along with a story i'm writing so i had put my name in the book in here somewhere. i enjoyed the read very much and you are right about Morphine. greek gods are a great thing to learn thanks for shareing some pieces on them. I'm a dying romantic and when i can no longer write i can no longer live -Jeremiah Johnson- |

You are this candle kid, and a passing light beam has caught me. Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |
