From the deepest recesses of ancient hours I come Egyptian, Victorian, a Priestess, a Lady I created a Goddess' reign I scoffed at a Queen's protocol In dark nights I bring the mists Only do as I say, and I will be your slave. Command the power, but look not away. I am the panther holding the dove in my claws and if the delicate bird should fly, there is no power holding me from you. I am aeons. I am Gemini, bound by stars that draw the cord tighter around the Two in their evolution. I swirl the winds over the oceans in my cloak. If I step quickly, the earth shakes. Think you I am only light? Your Virgin had to die in time. I am She of Death as well. But I have my people, my few they look upon me with the devotion of centuries. Make me not what I am not. Do not be deceived: I am not a result. I am the Maiden of Egypt who is sworn to vows. I am the Matron of Europe who is heavy with child I am the Crone of here who outlives them both I am the Death who takes them all home. Your pleasure is mine, as is your pain. *You* are not Called, have no fear But *you*-- yes, child. Come. Let me mark thee with My memory I am whichever of the Four, whichever of the Two you would have me be. |

What a monumental piece, Portia. This is really powerful and intriguing. I am very impressed! The closing lines are the perfect "no escape" climax: I am whichever of the Four, whichever of the Two you would have me be. Encore, encore! BTW, where have you been? I have been missing you and your friend gothicmoth * sniff * Lotharingia "For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. Otherwise, what the hell are they here for? What are they going to write about?" Tom Holland |

Stunning and beautiful. Loved it. Felt it deep inside. Catalinamoon "If a man moves you to feel like a woman, the least you can do is let him." Merrit Malloy |

Portia...a winner! Dark, mystic and imaginative. Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |
