Creeping slowly, silently She hears the footsteps come Closer, closer to her side And inside she grows numb. The door is shut, lock in place Her nightmare comes to life Gentle hands, caressing words Cut through her like a knife. Minutes seem like hours long But finally it ends Slowly, sorely she gets up Oh, who can break this trend? She scrubs and washes till she's red And no one understands Her silent cries go unknown But to the stroker's hand. Fearful, frightening days and nights Are what her child mind knows She believes she must be bad And pain is what she sows. ____ _ | __\_\_o____/_| <[___\_\_-----<----------<sheriliegh@sprint.ca>< |

Oh, this literally gave me chills while reading. Beautifully put together, and such a sad story. I am so sorry if you went through this, or someone you love did. What an ugly, painful thing for a little girl to endure. Almost enough to make you hate men.. (I don't) catalinamoon |

Another tragedy...a well done poem. Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |
