East Coast

I reflect upon yesterdays
Wishing they were tomorrows,
Thinking of the pain endured
And the heart-felt sorrows.
I dream of the smiles
That I once knew,
And how alive I felt
When I was with you.

I remember so many tears
Spilled from our eyes,
Both of sadness and joy
And how we both realized.
Doubt was not an option
For then we knew it was real,
But time took its toll
Leaving wounds unhealed.

I close my eyes tightly
Once again I am there,
Held securely in your arms
Living without a care.
A smile sneaks across
This aged weary face,
For what once was had
Can never be replaced.

Indeed at times now
It all comes back to me,
Every curve and detail
Of us I can see.
Once I gave my heart away
And forever it was lost,
In and endless line of emotion
Incessantly tossed.

My tomorrows now are uncertain
Sometimes I feel so alone,
Seeing how far apart
Two hearts now have grown.
I must be a traveler
Because I continue on,
Facing all that confronts me
Whether it is right or it be wrong.

Know this you I speak
That I WILL be okay,
No matter what pain I endure
I will find a way.
I love my yesterdays
For which I wish I could borrow,
But I must now live for today
In order to await my tomorrow.

Trisha, indeed I owe you a lot for this.  It was so wierd to see my work posted and know I had not put it there.  Made me feel all warm inside.  However, if I follow the advice of Mr. Carnell, I shouldn't submit too many works too soon.  So you are officially my agent.  Kynder, thank you for your nice words.  It's time to see if my high school teachers and college professors knew what they were talking about

Trisha, indded you make a wonderful agent!!
Jeremy this is great, you have a gift, and glad to see you have joined us here in Passions, WELCOME!!!  I like this style and how you started out melancholy and ended with hope that is what poetry and life is all about!!  Great stuff...

I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.....

Excellent writing. This piece tells me I have something to look forward to, instead of just living in the past. Hopefully if I can be strong the future will take care of itself.
But for now I feel more comfortable in the darkness. (At least now I know were I am and have been and am searching within myself to work these feelings out)
