I.

and the smoke rose around my dream
sage and sweetgrass
it seemed you glowed

older than imagination
stones rested in my hands
i said a little prayer
to whom uncertain

inner strength maybe
a little love
and a destiny that might be told
all went up in that smoke

the sage could feel
what is unknown
and lifted
carried it away

II.

mother i can see you
mother i can't touch
mother thanks for telling me

i remind you of my grandmother
i may join you

i may join them

III.
how will i remember
sweetgrass and sage
when the last of the smoke has gone

Jannel, these moved me...and I appreciate the style:

this line really got me:

older than imagination.

The three tie in nicely...damn good job

i took part in the most beautiful thing the other day with my global religions class. we met with a lakota sioux pipe carrier and had a ceremony. it was incredible, and tht night, i had a dream about my mother, and she said she was proud of me. i was euphoric. that's where this came from.
