Impossible to Please

If I was really in search of honesty
would a sincere and open person come to me?
So that I could open up this heart
to expose the truth and set myself free?
And as truth is given the freedom it needs
for every interested and eager eye to see
could this heart survive the exposure
and would this mind bear the scrutiny?
For fearfully I don't think I really know who I am.
And if the truth could be known
I have a need to know exactly where I stand.
For an example do I know how to show appreciation
for all the blessings coming my way?
If so then why am I so busy driving them all away.
Why is it so hard for me to firmly say
she is almost exactly that which I want and need.
Why am I so demanding and impossible to please?
To be perfectly honest with you if I really know how to
perhaps more acceptance would fulfill my need
or perhaps I simply fear the opportunity to succeed.

If we could understand our own needs who knows what this world would be like. I enjoyed this read, nice work.

I often ask myself the same thing...and I answer soemtimes that I am not deserving of the good within my reach

"perhaps I simply fear the opportunity to succeed" also...and with it it's many  responsibilities

very thoughtful you are this morning, James

Ya know, I was talking to an ex boyfriend of mine a couple weeks ago and he said the same thing to me. That he tried so hard to please me, yet I kept pushing him away. That he only wanted to see my smile.  He said that he had seen me laugh at jokes ect ect, but never really seen me smile.  After all that I really thought about it and it hurt.  I never realized that I was that bad.
Anyways, you did an excellent job here.  Nicely written!

I'm no PhD in psychology, but I'd say that you're afraid that you'll not be pleased with whoever comes to you.  Personally, I've always believed that our "soul mates" are predestined to be with us.

This is a tricky one.. hmmm.  I kinda believe they are destined to find us somehow.  There is more involved than just you and them, there is a bigger picture..
And our part to play in all that is to be open to all that comes our way, experience these experiences, and see what happens - come what may...
Don't get me wrong we have to work at it, and so do they...
