The Christmas lights will twinkle
and the snow will gently fall
But this Christmas, for me,
will be the loneliest of all

The children's eyes will sparkle
as they slowly make their lists
And hopefully they won't notice
if my eyes begin to mist

I'll wrap pretty packages
with ribbons and with bows
But I will feel as cold
as the winter wind that blows

I'll cuddle in the dark
and watch the Christmas lights
And sip hot chocolate slowly
as I face the lonely nights

We'll go sledding down the hill
and make angels in the snow
And I will try to hide my tears
so they will never know

We'll bake cookies by the dozen
and string popcorn for the tree
But my heart will still ache for you
to spend this time with me

To capture and live a moment is truly living

I loved it. Such a sad poem, but it is so true for so many (hopefully not for you)

Ronil (The sweet sound of summer sends serenity through my soul searching for that evermore solitude.)

This was beautiful.  And yes I know how ya feel.  I use to love Christmas till my divorce.  Now it seems like another lonely day wanting my love to be with me.  Holidays are lonely times of the year without your loved one!!  *hint hint firejerm  *

Nicely placed thoughts tho
And I hope you all the best

A great piece showing all the sorrow and yet, showing how we put on the masks and go about life when that pain is there, eating away at our heart.
Well done.

With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free..

There are times where I like to look around.  And, while it is not Christmas, I am glad that I found this one.

Thank you.
