THE CAGED BIRD Take my hand on a night like this Squeeze it so tight and never let go Keep me close to your pure, warm heart Just a little tighter Just might slip away Catch my memories Before they slip into oblivion Cradle me asleep for me to feel safe All this you give to me All this I pull from you Though I requite your love You give me more I'm the beast, you're the beauty So pure and innocent Why do you let me wreck you? But I know for sure, without you I'd slowly crumble asunder and fall Why you take pity on my heretic masquerade I'll probably never know, but I know for sure I need you I love you I'd die for you And through the bars of my prison While draining my heart on a night like this I can't stop thinking; Aren't wild birds extreemly free? And a drop fall from my eye It just fell... As I keep on twirling down |

This is a sadly beautiful poem. A caged bird never sings as sweetly as one freed. Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. R. fox |

I know I'm really late in responding to this, but poetry is never too old to be appreciated. I was beginning to wonder about you Broken and even a little bit worried but it looks like you're doing okay (But still depressed..remember...true happiness lies within us all). I'm glad you found someone to love and someone that loves you...it's always a precious gift. Your poem was so beautiful...honest...mellow..I like the way you bare your soul. It's wonderful.
