Flashing neon in the dim,
The dankness,
Smell the stench that’s wafting in
From garbage out the window,
The darkness;
The place of living shadow.

Then waking,
To infant and siren scream,
Not yet light, Still the night,
I would rather be in dreams
Than waking.

Transparent,
Yet I see her before me,
Warning, so gently, Warning.
“You must leave, must go, must flee”
Heaven sent?

Doors slam and foot falls rising,
Get away,
It’s their late night surprising
With guns drawn not to capture,
Get away,
You must be whom they’re after.

Go upward,
To the air, the clouds and sky,
Air, chill with the frost there,
Carry sounds of siren cry,
Go onward.

The sky flashes red and blue
Then a light,
They begin to surround you,
All the emotions that you dread,
Out this night,
Spirits that will not stay dead.

And lead flies,
Creasing the air just beside,
Filling you blood spilling,
You look for someplace to hide,
As lead flies.

Freedom is a step away,
Roof to roof,
Death awaits if he does stay,
Fleeing those that won’t ask why,
Roof to roof,
A step, a run, and then fly.

In the air,
He listens to death’s shrill call,
Flying he is fleeing,
But crashes into the wall
That is there.

Her laughter, echoes his mind,
Now bound down,
Memory never to find,
Lost in short bits of flying,
Now bound down,
Broken, bloody and crying.

Dreams take him,
Slow the body starts to heal,
Bound holding to the ground,
Daily spirits try to steal,
Screams break them.

Never flee in neon dim,
I'd light the way for you.
Replace myself in shadows of
The dank and darkness, too.

Upon the waking, screams you'd hear
Would come from dreams of bliss.
The nightmares tangle, I would unwind,
Enfolding Wynter's kiss.

Thank you, Chris,
I attempt to tell stories with my poetry.
Rather dark ones, but a story none the less.

Thank you, nakdthoughts,
It’s always extra nice to receive poetic responses.

Thank you, Ron K Fox
Glad you like my words.
