Eli have I let you down? Did I not follow in thy footsteps? Cos no matter how hard I try, Life is filled with hatred and threats. Love is the way, That truth is abundantly clear, But in my personal life, There is nothing but anguish and fear. Fear of the unknown, Fear of being misunderstood yet again, Fear that I'm not good enough, All fears balanced precariously on a pin. Eli, I was there when you died, You fell into my open arms, I your last glimpse of life on Earth, Yet I feel so empty, life has lost it's charms. Some think they see, Yet they don't, Others will never see, Thank the Gods I'm not one that won't! I know the truth, I know the way, So I suppose what I'm asking, Is for strength today. Strength to carry on your teachings, Strength to lead the way, Strength to tolerate the foolish and intolerant, And the knowledge to make tomorrow a better day. Eli, I suppose I'm asking for courage, For you to lend a heavenly helping hand, That for a while we face things together, As I move across this land. With your love and guidance, And all your lessons taught, I should be able to handle things, Strongly and with love like I ought. Eli, appear to me again, And show me all this world and the next have to share, Fill this vessel with love, hope and peace, Take me far from lonliness and dispair........ *Friendship is a horizon - which expands whenever we approach it...* ~Isis~Goddess~~Sovereign of the Spirit~ |
