The Shores of Alone

Walking along, just you and me
and your little girl, a happy three.
This is the dream I had last night.
Thinking things would work out right.

Suddenly, as a bolt of lightning,
she appeared, the scene was threatening.
Then I vanished like the wind,
I'm invisible again.

Portent of my future life?
Love so sadly filled with strife.
I feel an absence of myself,
a lonely ghost upon a shelf.

Another flash, and we were sitting
in the car, such heated kissing.
Too late now to turn away
Hearts so branded have to stay.

This time, when I reach to touch,
you are gone, in smoke and dust.
I vainly try to hold you close,
my love, the one I need the most.

This is how my nights are spent,
living through a non-event.
Daytime is as incomplete,
search for love and find defeat.

Perhaps it's all to no avail
yet still my heart tries to prevail.
Valiant efforts, hope flows on,
as it will till you are gone.

how sad yet beautiful
I know how it feels to hope forever
only to keep waiting forever
hoping so much it hurts
great job

Sadly, I too can relate... He comes to me in my dreams quite ofthen, sometimes it's so great I wish it would be real and wake up only to face the cruel reality...
Sorry... I'm really depressed now. Nice writing, as usual , Sandra.
I wonder if you got my e-mail by now?

I feel your pain deeply...sometimes the only way out is to let go of all the desires in our past and embrace new opportunities waiting to embrace us...all the hopes in our dream can remain the same only the faces change....James

Oh Sandra those sort of dreams are the scariest ones I know?  And it's of no comfort to think you have finally found love and what even could be the love of your life and suddenly 'psst' it is gone, lost and there is nothing you can do.  Scary thoughts.
But I believe (have to believe) that we do have a certain say in our own destiny and sometimes we DO have the power to change things or not let things happen.  Hope you can do same here.. *hugs*

Cat...

You have a very talented way expressing what you feel with the most heart felt poetry.
I am simply took by your writings.
This one paints a picture of love, despair and despriation, for a lover only left for a future dream.

BTW.. My wife is pregnant again, and I am in Wissconsin for two weeks. I will be back in full swing on the 24th. I have much to write about.

Love ya,
Larry...
