The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2000-09-02 10:38 PM

First one and then another
we say our love is true,
but later, without warning
it all becomes askew.

The love we had has gone away
it's no ones fault, you know.
Life goes like that, things often change
you just go with the flow.

The stimulus of new romance
gives such a vibrant feel.
It often overwhelms us so
we swear the love is real.

Many speak of long term love,
they are the lucky ones.
The rest of us have serial love
and in the end there's none.

You just spoke my thoughts out loud, but I really hate it to be true. I'd really like to believe that in the end we do find that perfect endless love that will totally sweep us away and make everything perfect...

Very nice(how can sad poems be "nice" , that is why I have a hard time commenting  . My two cents , "go with the flow" is what my wife and I don't always do. We have had some big arguments over the past twenty years and still do. Just remember all men are jerks at heart

~Serial Love,...aww Cat. Such a great writing on such a totally sad outlook on things. I would have to be in the same line as LM with that hoping. You should too. I just woke up and can't put my words together that well yet,...hehe but do take care C. *Peace.

Oh yes these are such wonderful feelings we are shareing but can they stand the test of time.  I often find myself thinking just after I meet someone new that I am very attracted to how I will feel about her in three months or six months or a year down the road...it takes two commitments to pursue a relationship...otherwise time and feelings will slowly slip away...James

Catalina,
what a weapon the serial lover holds. . . the heart. . .

Very profound. . . well done. . .

Ah! This reminds me of First Months Bliss which doesn't necessarily last one whole month. The lucky ones are the ones that it lasts a lifetime for. Your poem is absolutely wonderful, cat!!!
Someone told me once that the marriages that last are the ones where the couple are better companions than anything else...I don't know if that's true anymore.
I'm rambling on again, but that's good! That just means that I really enjoyed your writing and it got my mind whirring!!!

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.
