Who am I nobody knows
I hide inside so none of me shows.
A non de plume, a mask and a line
While I am hurting all of the time.

An angry person no not me
I wear a smile, show great charity
Makes others sigh, and moan with delight
While I am walking this endless night

When strangers get close I push them away
I've had lot's of practice I do it each day
I make them laugh, I pull their strings
While having no power o'er my fragile wings.

On winds of emotion, I make others soar
Show them a new-world, a half-opened door
They think that I'm clever, I'm just a fool
When I am alone, I scream and I drool.

Chasing the night, seeking the day
Finding my happiness in others' play.
Yet I'm no different and in the end
I need no lover, but I need good friends

who am I? were no different from me to you we all need love if just a hug would tug on our heartstrings with just the slightest pull. beautiful poem here, sometimes it's seems as if there are ten million people who pass you by without a whisper of hello.

Wow great poem! I too fade into the background of life & let others see only the "happy me" It's too easy to get sucked into this way of life & it's tough to get out of! I still cannot open up completely to anyone & it sux soo bad! All everyone sees is the fake me or whoever I wish to be that day. I'm sick of pretending! I went on to college & lost many of my good friends. I feel my past slipping away. It's really hard! Again loved your poem   LOVE ELMO

Sandra- thank you for your kind words I would dearly love to be friends with you. I need all the help I can get.

Rosebud1229- Yep I can relate, but aaah what magic when someone does whisper hello and makes you feel wanted.

qtiepieelmo- I know how you feel it's hard to open up and begin to trust.  I'm learning to do it one strand at a time. Friends at passions are helping but I'm a slow learner. *smiles*
Be well

Thanks boji stone. I could propably live the rest of my life without lovers, but friendless in to the dark, I don't think so.

Be well

I like that you show a very human side here. I mean, an element of weakness...no, that's not right either!!! Hmmm...HONESTY! That's what I was trying to find. Geesh! I guess I'm just not used to seeing that.
Great ideas flowing through this poem. You pull at the mindstrings with your openness.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.
