The Quilt of Madness It was only a summer tryst, But I can’t explain the total bliss, …Felt when we kiss It’s something everyday I miss, It’s driving me slowly insane, But the solution’s so plain! But I can’t go back the way I came, Neither that nor snuff this flame. It burns me to the core. Warm, red insanity wraps around me, Like a comforting quilt , helping to see, Like a friend who finally understands me, My friend, insanity. I know something’s wrong, I can’t describe why this pain’s so strong, Can’t really explain what goes on, Up in my head, with my friend, Insanity My mind’s fallen into disrepair, This life I lead, seems to go no where, And I lost my mind, but no one seems to care, All my dreams seem to evaporate into thin air, Leaving me there, just dumbstruck and alone. So alone I just a little high strung, stared too long at the caffeine sun, I’m perfectly fine, but on the other hand, you’d better run, I’m known to be violent at times, but it’s all in fun. Sometimes when you want something so bad, you can taste it, I think of all my time, how I waste it, It’s time I faced it, but I can’t do it alone, Ok, so I pick up the phone, Dial her number from memory, hold my breath, …Busy signals fill my ears, but not a tear, My friend comforts me, she’s gone, like all the rest. So far away, Maybe it’s for the best? Deranged and depressed, But I still see her face, haunting my unrest, I do my best, but insanity is determined to dress me, In its comforting quilt of madness. Warm and safe from this winter of sadness. ---------------------- Spreading insanity, one post at a time |

I too felt this one all the way through...your use of words in this poem is superb and only outdone by the form you chose...nice work Don't care what people say Just follow your own way Don't give up and use the chance To return to innocence. -Enigma |

Thank you for your replies and concern, But I’m afraid the quilt has already become me. There’s no where to run, one cannot run from oneself. Sanity is of no use in this world anyway. Writing about darkness is easy for me, I just close my eyes and write what I see. ---------------------- Spreading insanity, one post at a time |

There is method in Madness and Sanity in Insanity. You have hit on the perfect solution to all our problems and presented it perfectly. To be insane is the only way out. Deepak |
