AFTER LOVE Can there really be a friendship after a love shared so deep? Can I just push it all behind me and pretend you're still the same person? A person who I loved so passionately, who I would gladly die for is now supposed to be just a friend? All the days and nights of memories are to be swept aside like a dream, to talk to each other as if it never occured? How am I supposed to talk to you and not feel the familiar desires rising? Not feel the wants we both once shared, burning inside me, consuming me. Fear has stolen your love from me, fear of commitment, change, dependancy. Those things you so fear, I embrace. I yearn for the time again when love was so true, When nothing mattered except you and I. But those days are gone, lost forever. Is there friendship after love? No. Only pain and darkness that's all consuming, never again to see the light of love. Look back at your past, but don't stare too long.You might not like what you find |

Sad and powerful. Its a hard question, I don't know the answer either. I too, long for the old love, and don't know if it is there. I have spent years trying to be just friends with someone, but the love always wins out. Good luck, and take care. catalinamoon |

The answer like this for me was no, the loss is so tragic, it rips the heart out. And each time they are near the feelings grow darker, with passion/hate. Move on kid, find a heart that wants what you want, life. Great poem, hard feelings. Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

well before Friday I would have said no way can you be friends after a love breaks up...but I am living proof that after an almost thirty year love, we will end up friends...and put the rest of the D world to shame...he is still kissing me goodbye in the morning and says he will til he moves out..that he actually likes me....WOW..and I always thought he loved me but never liked me.. ~~sighing Maureen |
