The coarse, unforgving raindrops- Pounding on the cold earth with such ferocity, and speed Like the madman who feverently hammers the drums of war... The ongoing, low rumblings of thunder- Low at first, but growing steadily to its ear-blistering climax Low, and foreboding, like the ominous war-machine awakened from deep slumber... The sudden, sharp, cracklings of lightning- Eye-piercing in their sudden brilliance Brighter than the firey spirits, and ambitions Of past, present, and future fallen ones... The maddening banshee-cry of the wind- Carrying the battle-cries of past warriors in it's wake Deep, and terrible is the sound A shrill, furious howl, which instills fear in the most steadfast of men and summons dead warriors from their graves. Soon, I shall be among the defeated My battle-scarred body will lie silent amidst the din of battle, and the drums of war My fallen spirit will burn brightest in the raven-colored night sky Leaving my broken soul to forever grace the night winds. < !signature--> -"Death is the servant of the righteous." I like the strength and passion in this piece. I especially like leaving my defeated soul to forever grace the night winds. Be well Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Thanx for all your responses, and for takin the time to read this poem. Oh, and Deepak, the exclamation points...It basically means a scream, or some other loud noise which really cant be put into words. |
