I met her walking down that path,
that we all do share,
I asked if we could talk awhile,
or until we arived down there.

She asked how far am I going?
I lied "just a little way."
I could see she knew the truth,
and had no more to say.

She smiled at me and said,
"I knew you once before"
I took her hand and shouted,
"This time it's 'evermore!"

She just pulled her hand away,
and walked on up ahead.
"Can't you just leave me alone?"
"You know I'm already dead."

I gave to her my word of faith,
with all my heart a token.
I asked of her the promise,
I knew could not be broken.

"You know you can't go with me.",
"so turn and go back home."
"This is something I must to do,"
"and I have do it on my own."

So I turned and walking back,
to where the path did start.
Walked toward that end by myself,
a man without a heart.
