I posted this in #9 yesterday, but I think it would be more at home here... Moonbeams through the window cast soft shadows on the bed... The darkness helps to ease the demons chasing through my head... Your cutting words were hurled like daggers perfect in their aim... Now I'm the loser...You're the winner... Master of the game...... The game is strictly verbal... It's a simple game for two... The rule is universal... See what damage you can do... The weapons are the words, and they've been sharpened--finely honed... Now all you need is one to play... (Can't play this game alone)... It's best if you can choose a partner closest to your heart... There seems to be more pleasure, and it's easier to start... You know your partner's weakness, You thrust the knife right in, Your weapons wait impatiently... So let the games begin!! It starts with simple argument... No need to raise your voice... Just small remarks at first will do... Each word is quite by choice... You throw them back and forth awhile, You toss the words around... The object of the first gameplay, is to wear your partner down... And then you pick some cutting words, to enter second stage... They're sharp enough to draw some blood, and push the game to rage... That's where the game becomes a fight, it's time to zero in... You're at the point where you could lose, but usually you win!! The words are aimed precisely now... They cut right to the bone... The scars they leave will never heal... And you'll be left alone... There's always other partners, but it just won't be the same... My love made me the prey, and made you....... Master of the game! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Hi Cerenity.... No, you won't find me hiding in any closet or under the bed!!! Seems like all marriages have this one detail in common and the longer you're together, the more fine-tuned the words get!! Ask me..... I know!!! Thank you for reading my 'words'!!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Wow, I hate this fact of life. Thats about the only good thing I can say about my life, no fighting. (No nothing) Super, fantastic poem, as always. I love the rhythm of your writing. "Your cutting words were hurled like daggers." You know I really hate that...you try to be open and honest with someone and they use the information as weapons against you...if we could only accept each other as we are..and move on down the road if the differences are too far apart to work out...James |

sometimes words are more painful than daggers.. and they cut deeper, too. |

To catalinamoon, jmlee12345, and moshpit, I think we must all detest how words are used to injure peole. I wrote this mainly to remind myself that words have such tremendous power to do good or damage those we love. As poets, I think we are all more keyed into this power, and maybe we can help each other more. Thank you all so much for reading this. Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |
