Hi everyone. I am new here, and would like to reaad everything, and post some of my stuff. With everyones permission, this is a new one I have to share.

SHATTERED BELIEFS

I'm sure I used to believe in something.
That love would rush to find me,
bringing happiness and contentment;
that if you love someone hard enough,
they have to love you back.

I'm sure I used to believe
that a physical union
brought emotional substance.
That when a man takes your body,
he also wants your heart.

I'm sure I used to believe
that marriage meant forever,
that promises were real,
that my love could cure any man
of his abominations.

I'm sure I used to believe
that I could change the world,
that my words would make a difference,
that in the future all children
would be warm, safe and loved.

I'm sure I used to believe
that God cared what happened,
that he would somehow remove
the hatred in the world
and the pain in my heart.

I'm sure I used to believe
that my life would be valuable;
that such an inanimate thing as money
could not control my life
with its absence.

I'm sure I used to believe
that my life would be fulfilled;
that the man I love
would be by my side,
that surely I would never
marry the wrong man,
or cry at night for the one
I can't have..

I'm sure I used to believe in something.

You are most gifted.....you don't just write words, you carve out a place for them...they become perpetual.....this is a fantastic poem...and it speaks to so many with so much.  Don't stop....reach down within that beautiful soul of yours and give us more.  Hardrock

To Kynder, thanks for the comments. I wish I knew the answer to the question what the hell is it all for anyway...
To Hardrock, thank you for the compliments on the poem. I have a lot more I would like to post. You have all been very encouraging, I appreciate it.

Catalinamoon, Welcome to Dark Passions, and make yourself at home, the milks in the fridg, along with the cookies.
At least I use to believe they were.
Anyway yes this is a great way to break us into your thoughts, I use to believe in a lot of things also.
I can't say what I believe in now, they would lock me up.
simply great.

A HHHHHHHOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLing review.

DJLI, thank you for the comments. Have you posted any of your work? I didn't see any. But then, I am half asleep now and should stop for the night. Will find you tomorrow?

Hello Catalina...I used to live in Long Beach and I've been 26 miles across the sea a few times.  I enjoyed the strong message you have presented...sometimes I am not sure what I believe in anymore...but it is important for me to believe in something.  James

  Touching and beautifully sad.  But remember, your beliefs are never shattered, as long as you still have love in your heart, and hopes for all your dreams.
