Relentless Silence that enfolds all Life In Death! Enwrapping mute and somber wings About the heart, as when a vulture swoops Above his helpless prey, and dropping...clings! Immutable Silence!...Ah!, Sound, burst forth In some vast cacophony that will rend The skies apart, and make the trees to sob Aloud in grief, and writhe and twist and bend Until they sweep the very ground from which Their roots have sprung! And whirl the boundless sand In choking clouds, to whip in heedless rush Across bare miles of long forgotten land! Sever the night with swords of flame, and fling Discordant thunders till a churning sea Retreats in awe before the mighty wrath That shames its roar by deep intensity! Make all the earth in anguish quake, and cause Titanic winds to wail with spectral cry--- And slay this sensuous soundlessness Lest one, in silence bound... by silence die! |

Wow...next time I take a walk in the woods I will be a bit more aware of the noise of the silent....reminds me (must be my butterfly day *s) Listening for the Noiseless listening for the noiseless my senses on alert soaking all there is to hear though not a sound nor word tuning out or tuning in today no noise be found am listening for the noiseless while resting, lying down a butterfly in flight I see no sound does beauty make breezes pass through poplar trees leaf floats upon the lake noiseless seems to be the call of all I hear today my lids are closed in quietness to dream this day away ... M*99 always enjoy your words Rex |

And lo a trump shall sound and the earth destroyed. Feels like the end on the world but again loved the passion in this poem. Be well Kethry. "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- Cole |
