STRUCK DOWN (AGAIN): Up and down, a rollercoaster ride One day the floor, the next the sky Never calm, thrown about With rough emotions casting doubt I'm not at rest, I can't be whole For with vicious claws you grip my soul The demon-life of circular pain Depression strikes me down again |

Sylvia..Whew!! I can relate to this. How the heck do you even out the ride without resorting to drugs? Some oscillations I can take...but some leave me hanging out there in space. Nicely put. Hardrock |

Been there, done (doing) that. I think that like many things, depression is something that will never be "cured." The propensity for it will be there throughout your life. Now this doesn't mean there's no hope. I've found that you can "treat" it, much as you would any other illness. They do have drugs... personally, I prefer to go it without them, but that is just my choice. For me, it's a matter of mind over matter... which usually works well. For example, the other night I was feeling not too happy (LOL) and I told my friend that I would allow myself that one night to feel bad and force myself to be better the next day. And I was... I wasn't "there" but it was better. Now mind you, I'm at this point after several years of dealing with extreme depression... LOL, so maybe drugs are a better option! Who knows, I just knwo what you're talking about! Chris |

Sylvia, what a true description of it. Very nice poem, and I hope you get to the good side of the rollercoaster again soon. Peace Sandra Practice can make anything perfect...even grief can become an art. Merrit Malloy |
