Looking around at the crowd, all these people sitting before me. White is all i see........... White, blank. Blank pages to be written on, blank faces sad & long. White, blank. Men with crisp white dress shirts. Women with bleached gowns,so blank it hurts. White, blank. White carpets under their feet. Dingy footprints run across, paths worn & beat. White, blank. The light shinning through 12 double doors, blinding white, reflecting shadows on the floors. White, blank. White, the color of death, silver crowns of tarnished age, yellowed breath. White, blank. Faded aqua eyes no longer bright, dull, confused, blank & white. White, blank. Blank clock faces plain & dead. Does time remember the numbers it's read??¿ White, bank. And there she weaves by night and day, a magic web of colours gay.~Tennyson [This message has been edited by Swåmp¤Faerÿie (edited 06-19-2000).] |

I like it, don't understand it, but I like it. Especially the last verse. Hmmm. |

I get this imagery of a morgue, and or a mortuary from a little kid's eyes, but the last verse I'm positive about and the answer in no, time will not remember us only we will remember us, time is an illusion. if your specifically mean time in it's self. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

I got the impression of a senior citizen hospital, particularly one that Dateline might do a story on. It could really be anything along those lines, though and I like the poem because of that. It's completely open to all kinds of interpretation. The repetition of "White, blank" is very effective. |

Well i was just looking around me noticing how white and blank everyone's face was, they didn't really know what was going on,we all just kinda go through the motions of a life. So that's my explanation. Many thanks for your words =] swamp And there she weaves by night and day, a magic web of colours gay.~Tennyson |

I understood the meaning.....and, to me, it has nothing to do with color.....it's just the absence of "presence"......Very well done, Swampy |
