"Burn Her!
Burn Her!"
I hear the awful cries
I feel emptiness inside
Watching it
Watching this
Procession to the fire

Hands tied
Thrust forward
The "witch" is soon to burn
"By the devil she'll be claimed"
I watch
I cry
But I would rather die

My life
She burns
A salty ocean are my eyes
I hear the awful screams
I listen
Ears burn
When they took her, where was I?

A coward
I hid
While hunters tied her arms
Marched my life to the fire
Still now
Her eyes
She cries no more

"No more burning years..."

I thank you for this...for "those who do not remember history are condemned to repeat it."

And as we near the sabbat of Lammas, on this day of a second eclipse in one moon's cycle...I thank you, so I will not rant...I simply say, "blessed be."

You have surely outdone yourself with this one! This is just sooo good. I would like to vote for it! You sum up so many negative human emotions here.
How many of us would truly have the guts to get up and say: Stop! In such a situation. I don’t know if I would ...

This piece speaks to so many holoucosts throughout history. It is very well phrased. If everyone could read this, perhaps humanity would become more humane.
'Never again the burning' I hope so.

And most of those so called witches weren't witches at all, merely healers (doctors or nurses in today's world), so sad, and another example of how cruel mankind can be..  How scared mankind is of one who is different...  Wonderful thought provoking work here hon.. great stuff

Really enjoyed reading this poem, it is amazing what terrible things we will do in fear. In way we continue to condemn those we do not understand. A lot of food for thought.

..."can you feel,
feel the burning of the witches?
The death of thier herbal dreams,
and the silence of their healing wishes?!!"

This is exquisite!!!
