Nothing But My Thoughts I squeeze my eyes tightly shut. I press my fingers against them, making the darkness I see complete. The darkness begins to fade, to part, to drift, to lighten, like a foggy veil pushed into oblivion by the wind. I'm sitting under a tree, listening; the breeze sighs through the trees, leaves rustle, shake loose, slowly drift to the ground. I'm alone, by myself, on an island, in the center of the universe; a universe of wild dreams, of hopes, desires, of prayers. I'm alone, with nothing but my thoughts. W. James Beard, Jr. |

How can being alone be so crowded? lol. I enjoyed it a lot. Kethry. Kethry. When dark of night steals your soul. Think of me and be made whole. |

really enjoyed the poem. I'm sitting under a tree, listening; the breeze sighs through the trees, leaves rustle, shake loose, slowly drift to the ground. Your thoughts are sometimes your best companion. "A frog, it cannot comprehend the sea Nor me happiness" Paul Draper-Mansun |

Thanks to all the above for your read and comments. These (and Darkness - No Sound At All) are almost as old as me. Wrote these back in the 60's (flower power baby!!) when this kind of thing was in vogue and I thought I could write. I'm cleaning out my "archieves", hee, hee, and subjecting you to all the things I care least about. Again, thanks for your words... jwesley |

James...wonderful read here. Beautiful imagery. As for being from the '60's: Don't make me whip out MY poetry from that era!! Loved it. Hardrock |
