The big oak door stands before me
neither open nor closed
but ajar
enter or not
be friendly or caring
or be a stranger
Multitude of faces
some smiling
some crying
some needing
some not even trusting
anymore
I walk through the door
pushing it open
never knowing
who will still be there
children in care
Dormitories
devoid of possessions
mostly bare
but eyes that smile
still alive with hope
eyes that stare
will 'I' be the one
to give them love and care?

RainbowGirl~
What a tender heart beats in you.
How could this one not touch me ?
It has done so with tenderness.

cindy, the formatting of this adds to the feeling of displacement which children in this situation must feel   ... very well done

Marge: Takes one to know one, as they say..

Thanks...HUSG

Bonnie: I think we're all the same, just have different ways of expressing how we feel...Thanks

HUGS

Epoet:  Yes, it is different, adoption and fostering although both have much red tape associated with the procedures, visiting a children's home doesn't really require the same formality but without a doubt the comittment speaks for itself but simple love is simply love and costs absolutely nothing but the rewards are priceless..   You get to buy countless icecreams, answer endless questions on cd players, car engines, Disney films you can't quite rememeber and give numerous hugs and tell all your favourite fantasy dreams as bedtime stories and finally you get to sleep with a smile on your face as you remind yourself of the smile as a child fell asleep, totally relaxed as you smoothed that fringe out of his/her eyes....I could talk for hours but I'll shutup now..

Thanks and HUGS

Heather: LITL?  I'm been tryoing to work it out and I can't, anyone know?

HUGS

Poertree: Yes, but I think you're garnering a little information about me, so perhaps you're understanding where I am coming from and I thank you for the observation..   ..Children in these situations ARE misplaced, sadly so..

Big HUGS

Cindy this reached right out and grabbed my heart!
You've written it with such deep passion, it left me feeling sad for those children.

I knew it would be a tear jerker by the title....especially after reading "i drink in the light of you" by martie. --so i was already weak--lol...

Very well written.
