Darkness Dreaming

I am the man of your dreaming:
Dank spectre holding your smile.
A mythical Casanova...
The object of your denial.

I’ll graze your echoes of laughter-
Glide through night-crystal fears.
I’ll crush your intimate rainbows
Shelling out heart aching tears.

I’ll challenge your mind for meaning,
Feed from your soul bleeding pain.
The infamous childe of Bedlam,
Come to the fore once again.

So whisper your breath’s lullabye,
Call me, you wretched disgrace.
I’m a blood hound fond’ling secrets
From imaginations chaste.

Scream out my name in the Darkness-
Beg for my feathery arms.
The caress of evil appeal
Invoked by maidenly charm.

My touch spans waters of distance,
Drowning your hopes in my light.
March through your marshes of terror
Searching my sadist’s delight.

I’ll bring you a rose thorny free
To taste of it’s velveteen skin.
Then banish it to forever,
Virtue turned into a sin.

In hunting you’re my only prey;
A rabbit panicked in sleep.
I chase as you’re crying away,
Then laugh as I feed...you weep.

I am the man of your dreaming:
There’s no escaping my gaze.
Just lay in quivering terror...
For I am your end of days.

Glad I am not one of your prey...lol
Very vivid portrait of a user to me.

Wow ! This is sinister ! Very thought provoking and an interesting character study. I hope this is not a portrait of you. I'll have to keep my doors locked ! It has a Dream-like quality and your phrasing is phenomenal ! Thanks for your formidible read!

This is chilling, Christopher. Very well written!

p.s. edit out your little note at the top so it doesn't get printed with the poem!

Almost as spooky as your face, Chris! J/k!
Seriously, this is great, and I'd love to have this bit of darkness in the book!

Hey Chris, I remember when you first posted this....
The last stanza gave me goose bumps then,
