Only In Dreams

I wish my love could give thy heart reprieve
From all thy sorrows, sighs, and mournful thoughts.
Oh, that my lips had words to halt thy grief
Or hands caress to wipe the tears I've wrought.
Now silently thou lay'st in sweet escape
Thy wells of fear and absence swell no more,
Yet still my love doth trouble me awake
To grieve the loss of she whom I adore.
Oh precious slumber, hearken unto me.
Envelope me into this silent night!
Oh sleep enfold me now that I may dream
Of she that hath composed my heart's delight!
Thus in thy dreams, my love, I come to thee
Where neither pain nor grief can follow me.

I really love this! I've never been able to master the sonnet form of poetry, so I admire you all the more for writing this. You have my vote!

And I dream of being able to write a sonnet even half as well as this

dear poets,

thank you all for your kind comments and for taking time to vote for my poem (or at least respond to it) it's going to be hard for a newbie to get into this wonderful new book, but thanks to the kindness of those of you who are more accomplished poets and have been around here longer, some of us have been given hope for achieving posterity   again, thank you...

sincerely,

sleep no more love,
For unto thee I have found,
Loves' awakenings unbound,
Oh, do hear thy heart, thy cry,
See these longing tears of thy eyes,
Tis not a dream,
For it is real,
Hearken unto thy voice my words,
Do you feel?
No more pain will thy heart see,
For this dream has become thy reality!

INSPIRING! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING?
MORE POEMS LIKE THIS I WILL BE HOOKED ON NOVECAINE!LOL!

You are sorely mis-named if novacaine deadens the senses. Gracious sonnets like this one bring them alive to say the least.
Excellent writing, good poet. My vote is cast.....

Sorry I'm so late in responding to this one but I honestly thought I did so last week. I admit to being a sonnet fan anyway but I find this one very well written with beautiful content.

Thanks for sharing,
Pete

dear poets,
thank you all so very much    it means a lot to me that you all took time to read and respond to my poor little poem *hehe* i'm sorry that i couldn't have thanked you earlier, but the object of my adoration (and consequently of this poem) is currently visiting me *hehe* so i'm spending most all my time with her these days... again, thank you all and i hope that i can find time to read some of your poetry in the near future...

Ah! What beautiful poetry...

It hurts, it really hurts to tell myself, remind myself of my neglectful behaviour... I missed this one for so long... simply can't believe I did... however I am so happy that I did finally come across this one and read this...
