I
aloft
in my own place

temper
the cause
for flight

dusting slowly
of myself

yet still
I echo larger wings

                             beat too high

fling myself
to tatters

and recover
through a touch of garden
                                        lush

Can a wisp
of lifebeat

possibly know sunlit
                               skies
for long?

Could I flight
                    sifting
of myself
unhurried

weaving to the pulse
of normal life?

…not what my wings were born for…

A wingflit out of time
I fly

a wandering creature
searching
for petalled rest

yet too sensate
of mystery
for flowered peace

I
unchained
defy

the living of my kind

Sweet Butterfly, God I love this!! My all time favourite of yours!!!  voting  voting voting

Yes, I am here, but I am dead, not alive,
my body goes on, my spirit has died,
and I though alive, feel dead inside.

very good.
enjoyed it but may have misunderstood it.
( perhaps your heart was out of time with your wings)?

This poem was not meant to be read -- it can only be whispered.  What quiet power spoken here, Kamla.  Well done.

Kamla, this is exquisite... frees the mind as a butterfly frees herself from the cocoon into the wide expanse of the sky....

Just want to say thank you so very much to all...hugs - wow...bounce!

Sir P: This is my signature poem...lol - that's why I posted it!!!

Jamie - to answer your query...hehe...how to explain this one briefly...lol. Ummm.

It is basically only that I am restless; I am always searching...and always risking.

Not a lot to do with the heart specifically in this - though that features - but only as a part of a whole.

'weaving to the pulse
of normal life?

…not what my wings were born for…'

that's just me in essence...

hope that helped.

Ah this fits, just fits..
Beautiful

I'm somewhat dismayed I haven't voted on this one yet (rectifying now), I thought for sure I had...maybe it's cause I've read it so many times.

Have you ever seen blue butterflies??? I have up in the National Forest land behind Dufur, Oregon...swarms and swarms of them...we took pictures of my littlest boy (at the time 3) running through them, it was so beautiful. As is this poem.

I think an exquisite butterfly wrote this exquisite poem, but no, it can't be. It must be that beautiful poet I know across the sea. Thank you for sending us this butterfly.
