A Gift of Forever

A small delicate box
Wrapped in Christmas paper and delicate lace
She takes it to hand
Pale and drawn, is her distraught face.

The last gift to be opened
Grief has pierced a hole through her heart
And anger never holds any answers
We can’t choose when, our loved ones will depart

Unwrapped, and held tight in her hand
A perfect shimmering gold chain
A floating heart, its companion
For one brief moment there is nothing but pain

As her eyes well to tears
There is a card she must read
Trying to collect herself
She struggles for the breath, she needs

The words were as clear as crystal
That swirled in her head
A message so perfect
And this, is what it said

A heart with wings
Will float back and forth forever
Though you may never see me
For eternity we shall be together

Remember me as I was
Happier times like the pictures in the hallway
Think of me, my love
For I shall think of you….always

Marina,
If Butterfly reads this, surely she shall cry. Going to trade for some eye drop, since people will be needing it to replenish their supply. Jamie
ps the only reason I mention this is because it will probably be in the book.. (should the word pieced be pierced? Great Love Poem.

Beautiful Marina!!

Yes, I am here, but I am dead, not alive,
my body goes on, my spirit has died
and I though alive, feel dead inside.

Very well done!  There are so many wonderful poets at this place, I am discovering, yourself as one. Got my vote.  But edit out some of the commas, there are a few that are unnecessary.

James, thank you my friend.  But you still don't have a sense of humour!!  LOL

Heather, thank you.  I do believe that also.

James, I do hope that is a compliment.  LOL  I will pass you a kleenex!!

Vamporous One, thank you very much for that compliment and the vote.  Perhaps not all the commas are necessary.  Thanks again.
