            A Soft Place to Fall

             So many years
               we let slip by
                 taking two roads
                   not knowing why

             I need you now
               soon making a call
                 tonight I'm looking for
                   a soft place to fall

             There were heartaches
               from many lovers past
                 looking for some meaning
                   none there to last

             In you I always knew
                and my loney eyes saw
                  a warm heart and
                    a soft place to fall

             did'nt mean to hurt you
                then so long ago
                  feelings that swept me
                    made confusion grow

             you knew me best
               it seems after all
                 coming to you now for
                    a soft place to fall

             you're always waiting
                with tender embrace
                   a smile so warm
                    upon your face

             in my eyes I see
               you standing so tall
                  there to give me
                    a soft place to fall

              when nights are over
                 and comes the dawn
                    before the daylight
                      you know i'll be gone

              until the next time
                 when I make the call
                    you'll know i'm needing
                       a soft place to fall

Beautiful!
In absensce of that soft place to fall, you might try a stout shoulder to cry on.
Very Nice.

I loved this "way back then" and I love it now...it floats and it touches every spot of the heart,  a perfect weave. J.M. was so very right about this one!! shhhhhhh don't tell her I said that though...she'll never let me hear the end of it

DH,

Loved it the first time I saw it.  Great choice for the book.

Terrific, Danny. Some country and western singer should be crooning this one out in a bar somewhere...
