Ssh! Can you hear whispering?
Focus on it, keep on listening
Soft breeze of angels' breath
Describe a love that defies death

Colors do their voices speak
Of a man I am to seek
Hues of red and orange and gold
In this placid place so old

Follow their sweet voices journey
Through this forest a pyre burning
O lead me to an unraped land
Guide me with your gentle hand

Take me to the place where he awaits
Make haste and open wide the gates
Calling to me he keeps his vigil
I'm drawn to him for it is his will

Smoke burned eyes, I hear crackling embers
Evil doth this place remember
Heavy air so thick, so dense
And I the first to be here since

Lo! A clearing in the sky reveals
Sunlight bathes a far off hill
Beauty far too great to speak of
God has breathed upon this place love

Soaring birds and indigo pools
Hidden from corruption of fools
Angels fly from me upon the threshold
"You'll find him where you've been told"

Repose such as the face of a child
Scanning the panorama, my eyes dance wild
Upon a river bank I fix my gaze
He's been waiting there many days

Run to him! faster than my feet will carry me
He spies me coming and rises to see
Placing a hand above his brow
He bolts toward me, both of us now

Our speed yields a pounding embrace, O rapture!
My deepest breath did he capture
Angels breath breezes through lush grass rolls
Amid them we spin, a union of souls

Thank you for your votes and replies. This poem was written for Wayoutwalt when we were brand new after meeting on the internet; hadn't seen him face to face yet. A wedding, three babies, and a new house later, he's still just as wayout there!

Phew, so much running -- I'm dizzy!   But your language is a treasure. You rhyme without forcing it, and craft beautiful images.
