I lie here
alone and naked
beneath the comfort
of the quilt
that we picked out
on our honeymoon.
I pull your pillow
close to me
and bury my face
in my memories
of you.

   Your scent still lingers
   throughout this house,
      you know...

I picked up a towel
from the bottom of the bath closet
yesterday...
A bottle of your perfume
rolled across the floor
and stopped at my feet...

I sprayed a little into the air
       and just stood there,
          missing you....

Thank you...you guys all know how much it means to me to post and reply...although I can't as much as I'd like to anymore...the three poems I've chosen to represent my work in this book are what I think are the three best I've written...not from any literary aspect other than they seem to evoke strong emotions even from me when I read them back to myself...I hope you all think so too.

Anyway...thanks for all your votes and for allowing me the opportunity to show my work here.

Chris, it evoked strong emotions in me too. The sense of loss was almost tangible!

The feeling of loss is enough to bring a tear to the eye. Very well written.

Chris, how tenderly you've shared the honest, aching spirit of loss and remembrance...I remember reading this poem some time ago...lovely work, here, my friend.

Chris-
HEY! This certainly pulls at the heart strings. Such a sweet, yet painful piece you have here. Ahhh, to be loved by someone like that...I love this piece babe!
