Be not my friend in light of day,
...then flee with dark's first fall,
For friendship blossoms not in sun,
...but blooms in sorrow's pall.
Sun needs rain to paint a rainbow,
...friends stay through the pain,
While others run at hint of trouble,
...true friends e'er remain.
Fair weather friends, I need you not,
...be gone into the night,
For with a friend that's tried and true,
...darkness turns to light.
