Memories and Dreams Memories for sale, dreams taken in trade time is running out, please respond today care for them well, I promise they won’t fade Reading them aloud, each word I did weigh on an old door found, thoughts that I now claim a plea from the past falls on ears of now a cry from one who must have known great pain did they ever trade if they could somehow Slumbering dreams with their colorful tales for memories unwanted and unknown Dreams take ill pallor memory regales liquid recollections that flow alone memory’s deep waters shaped by the heart always here with me while dreams may depart It would be interesting to see how some of you would address the above situation. Memories are what make us who we are. Would you trade yours for a dream? Jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. "Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely". |

~NEVER! And what a totally interesting poem you've written here. A thinker. Super concept! Take care P. *Peace. *Ok,...I'm back. I also had thoughts of choosing the other....you know, trading a dream for my memories actually sounds like a darn good offer,...I've been through the dirt and up the tailpipe, chewed up and spit out, shattered, stained, set on fire, rundown by a mac truck,....(who hasn't), and if I hadn't,...then I wouldn't be who I am right now. Someone I like. Someone who looks back on all that stuff and sure,...whines about it all sometimes but someone who stands up tall and sees forward, sees herself shining. I thank you kind sir for beaming me with this inside secret little self-admiration I had hiding inside of me. Mmm. Definately diggin' this poem. *Peace AGAIN. Sorry for the babble. Hard question J. Depends on what the dream is really. And the memory. Too much a broad question my friend... I couldn't give you a simple answer though, even were I to have specifics... it would take hours of deliberation - and then it would only be a hypothesis... sigh LOL damn good poem my friend. hugs ![]() "He looked across the silky surface of the Severn... it was a famously difficult river with fierce tides..." If I could stop right now, yes, I'd trade them for a dream...because the dream might be better than the memories..even a bad dream would be better than some.... I agree with my friends here..beautifully written poem. ![]() |

Jamie--What a thought provoking poem...I think my memories would win...for I could always dream another dream, but a memory can never return, and the past has taught me so much about dreaming. |

Thanks All! The great thing about memories is that we can embellish them a bit...lol.. and dreams..we can change them too. My worst memories?,, Of course I wish the events had not occured,, but had they not?...And really...who would know if I held a dream or two back for myself...lol dreamily yours, jamie Jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. Would I trade a dream for a memory, very difficult question. And I don't think I could give the same answer twice, even in the same day. Some of my memories, I'd like to throw away and never have to remember them. Still they make me whom I am, so they are lessons in survial, but a dream is another name for aspirations and those we all need. Anyway what a great poem, and for the thought. Take care, cherish each dream, is the best I can say. |

Jamie..... Enjoyed the poem, as I always do your wonderful work. As for the question.... With me, it would have to be half and half. Keep the good memories and the good dreams!!!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

I must say that I would have to agree with Martie on this one....my memories whether sweet or sour are what give knowledge to make better choices and I would not want to have to relive some of them to learn all over again....and the dreams can always find me waiting for them whether they are old or new...awesome presentation and much pondering to do. ![]() |

Prometheus-There is one dream I have had that has been reoccuring (3) times and if I could I would trade this dream a thousand fold to change it to make a memory as it resonates a deep passion in my heart. Nice piece, leaves alot of thoughts to ponder. |

Memories for dreams? Doesn't seem like an even trade. Very.. interesting thought however. (can i steal that idea?) (grin) We can't live without either of them.. and one is no good without the other.. so.. mmm.im really pondering here.. (I love to ponder) But.. if someone held a gun to my head.. I would have to chose memories.. I can always recreate dreams.. memories are etched in my heart. that's the great things about dreams. The thing you dream today.. will not be the thing you dream of tomorrow.. But the memory you have of tomorrow... will remain, unchanged.. and forever cherished. and besides.. you can't cherish a dream.. it's not real.. you can hope, want, wish and pray.. but the little girl helping you pull weeds in the garden.. mmm now that's to be cherished...!!! (geesh im so mushy today).. (grin) wonderful, and thought provoking writing.. thank you for making me think... Kay-lynn **A dream is a wish your heart makes :) |

Jamie. Great poem difficult question. I think I'd choose memories because at least you can re-work them to your liking, whereas real dreams are totally out of your control and can easily become nightmares. You have all been so kind I can not begin to express my gratitude. I think we can all agree that neither our dreams nor our memories should ever be for sale. Jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. "Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely". |
