People are finding it true today, Women in the service are here to stay. They are the same as you and me, Many spent hours on their knees. Things were differnt in the past, Changes are being made at last. People are finding this is true, Women are Veterans too. Women are fighting for the USA, In lands across the ways. They are laying down their lives, Paying the ultimate sacrifice. Family and friends they leave behind, They are constantly on their minds. As you stare at the red, white, and blue, Please remember WOMEN ARE VETERANS TOO. Cathy Bohannan Cathy Marie Bohannan |

Hi cathybohannan.... Now, I really, really appreciate this poem and I'll tell you why. I play music and a lot of my jobs are in American Legion Halls, and VFW's. There are as many women members in those clubs as there are men, and they fought just as hard and lost just as much as the men. I applaud you for writing this, as these women are still in need of recognition....especially the ones who served in Viet Nam, and there were many! Great writing here!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Paula, thanks I agree with you as a woman veteran I know that women veterans have got lost in the shuffle of things. Sunny1--I know that all veterans appreciate your time that you spend with them. As a veteran myself, I know that at times,I enjoyed all that volunteers like you do. Cathy Marie Bohannan |

Applause to you Cathy. Women, in this country anyway, are thought to be less than capable. I don't believe that. Nicely written piece. jwesley |

Cathy-I applaud you on your posting this and I know how much it means to you as you ARE one of those veterans. I agree with you 1000% and you know I do....ALL veterans should be recognized and it is a shame that what the women of this country have done throughout history has not been recognized by many at all and most often overlooked all together. You and all women of our military and non military support groups have my undieing gratitude and I will forever stand beside you on this. Love you.....and oh yeahhhhh...sweetly put in your poem. |
