I am but a simple man, my pleasures they are few,
Rather than filet mignon, I'd just as soon have stew.
I hate a dinner party, I don't sip fine bordeauxs,
Flannel shirt and blue jeans, that's my favorite clothes.

Cummings I don't understand, I'd just as soon read Frost,
Without the Reader's Digest, I fear that I'd be lost.
Erudite is just a word, for those with fancy talk,
It is those with common sense, with whom I'd rather walk.

I frequent not museums, to see the finest art,
Instead I view the setting sun, to gaze in heaven's heart.
I've never seen the opera, I've never been to Rome,
My favorite destination, at end of day is home.

I know that I'm old fashioned, I don't think that's so bad,
There's worse things I could be called, than husband and a Dad.
A simple life is all I need, four children and a wife,
To heck with high society, I'll take my perfect life.

Hi Mike--I like you just the way you are...but I don't think you're as simple as the person in this poem, and tis a wonderful poem it is.

Simple man, NO
Perfect life - YES

It's a no brainer for sure - I'll take some of that perfection...

I could relate well with that and most would say I'm simply complicated. Excellent read.

yes indeed it is a wonderful poem! and you do have a perfect life as long as you love who you are and what you have accomplished...and with a wife and four children..it seems you have accomplished much!
