Like a chink in my armor, or a crack in the wall- In defenses I erected long ago... The lines in my forehead, and the gray found in my hair, All remind me just how fast I’m growing old. For years I’ve been a loner, self-sufficient; so I claimed- Till at last I realize how much it cost... As I take a look around me, at the families of my peers, I am made of aware of just how much I’ve lost. Family? I have one, ... I’m a stranger in my home- A man, it seems, who’s hardly ever there... And even in their midst, you know, it seems I am aloof, I guess I really didn’t treat them fair. All those years of watching children, taking part in all their dreams- Are gone, the chance for closeness is erased... And the time for mending fences, likewise, with youth has fled, And remoteness now is etched upon her face. Another lonely highway, and another two week run- Another lonely motel where I’m bound... Desolation.......this is desolation..the desolation of time and realisation...but what does it all mean..there seems no answer ......yet. I like this a lot Jon |

Gunslinger.... This one really hits close to home! I'm on the road a lot play- ing music, and sitting in those hotel rooms makes you stop and think. Sometimes the desolation is overwhelming. Thank you for putting it into words...I really like the way you wrote this!! I have but one goal in life......It is: Not to have just one goal in Life!! ~ ~ ~ Sunny ~ ~ ~ |
