Silence of a winter's eve,
...in glow of Luna's light,
Sapphired stars in heavens shine,
...reflect off meadows white.
Tracks of snow-hare dot the 'scape,
...woodpile on the garth,
Crystal flakes on window's pane;
...embers warm stone hearth.
Bare feet 'cross oak wooden floor,
...pillows filled with down,
Cacooned beneath Grandmother's quilt,
...enwrapped in winter's gown.

What a wonderful thought on a hot day like today.  I am almost (and I said "almost") looking forward to a little of the white stuff.      Great poem.

Each line of this piece brings fresh wonder. This is a remarkable replication, my friend.

The frozen feel of frost bite
And your fingers going numb.
The sixteen layered clothing
6pm setting of the sun.

Scraping off your car each morn
Just to realize.
It will not start again today
All liquid's crystalized.

The slush and snow now on the road
Has got me in a spin.
When its finally over
My heart is by my chin.

I love the winer just enough
To smile at the first sight.
But when its crushing over me
I wish with all my might.

For signs of spring and temperatures
No layers, ahhhh just one.
I yearn for greener meadows
And the feeling of the sun.

So now we moan of heat waves
And are yearning for the snow.
When it here we'll moan of cold
And yearn for lawns to mow.

I loved this piece Mike, perfect timeing for it but I am not looking forward to a harsh Canadian winter. Now if we have a light one like we did last year I'll be happy...lol.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

William Butler Yeats

Wow, that was so nice! What a way to bring a bit of winter into the heat and humidity of the summer season. I loved the memories you wrote about too. *applauds*

P.S. I'm sitting here in my air conditioned house...and it feels so good on a day like today...
